Tonight I got to look up different ways to teach writing to students. I immediately had a ton of questions, but I just decided to type in how to teach writing to students. So many different options popped up from handwriting, to forming sentences, to writing essays. I couldn't believe how many different options there are out there, but I guess I have never really enjoyed language arts and so I never really thought about everything that goes into this one subject. It's a lot really. I'm actually really looking forward to discovering more about Language Arts, I'm going to be a Special Education teacher so I probably should know at least a little more on this subject.

Carrie,
ReplyDeleteThat is exciting to hear about your desire to be a special education teacher. I also love working with special education students! I was also as shocked as you were to discover all that goes into language arts. I always thought language arts was simply knowing how to write and how to speak but that's not even half of it.
I hope I can pass on a lot of good information to you! Great start on your blog!
ReplyDeleteAww I love meeting people who are interested in special education. I think this course will definitely help you and I agree!! There is SO MUCH that goes into teaching language arts. It is kind of confusing and at this point I am not sure how I am going to do my unit plan.
ReplyDeleteLanguage arts was my least favorite subject in grade school. I think it was the writing. I could read well but writing wasn't a subject I excelled in. I worked with a special education English classroom at a middle school. It's a tough job but very rewarding. Good luck!

Best of luck being a sped teacher! I think as the class progresses the information will definitely be beneficially and we will be able to put it into practice for many years to come.
